Start of construction of "B39" technology centre

Groundbreaking ceremony at IDS Imaging Development Systems in Obersulm

The ground-breaking ceremony on February 25th marks the start of the largest expansion in the history of IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH. The innovation and technology centre "B39" will provide jobs for 200 employees. In addition, a staff restaurant and event rooms for lectures and conferences with up to 200 persons are planned. The expected construction time is approximately 1 1/2 years. Responsible architect is Frank Seiter, S-Projekt Architektur from Ellhofen.

The main user of the 4,500 sqm complex will be IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH and its sister company IDS Innovation GmbH. The new innovation branch of the well-known industrial camera manufacturer from Obersulm deals, among other things, with cooperations and participations in early-stage start-ups dealing with the topics of image processing, industrial cameras and artificial intelligence.

But also startups from the areas of vision and automation will have co-working spaces available. After all: "We would like to shift focus more towards new innovative technology topics,” explains Managing Director Jürgen Hartmann. Cooperation and investments in start-ups in the above-mentioned areas are therefore the focus of attention.

In addition, the new building will accommodate the "B39 Academy". In addition to IDS-related training (e.g. product training), there will also be a public event and training programme. The focus will include soft skills training and lectures and events on future technological topics.
