Product Life Cycle Camera in series production. 🛈 Product Life Cycle Long-term availability is an important aspect when selecting the right industrial camera. Our camera finder gives you the life cycle of each camera model so that you can take this criterion into account in your camera selection. The following life cycle statuses are differed: In development The model is not yet in series production, but will be introduced shortly. In series Camera in series production. Not recommended for new designs The model is no longer recommended for new application development. We suggest looking for newer models of the "in series" availability. Discontinued The model has been discontinued. You have the opportunity to secure inventory before the end of the last-time-buy order period. See product discontinuations. The GV-5580CP Rev.2.2 is fitted with the 4.92 megapixel CMOS sensor (MT9P006STC - colour version) from onsemi. About half an inch in size, the sensor delivers a resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels. Thanks to the innovative A-Pix™ pixel technology, the sensor is extremely sensitive to light, which makes it an affordable alternative to many CCD sensors currently available on the market. This also makes the camera particularly suitable for applications that require maximum precision in colour rendering and crystal clear image quality. The A-Pix™ pixel technology is based on the gathering of light by a light guide, which directs the gathered incident light from the colour filter to the surface of the photo diode.

Structure and process improvements in pixel technology have increased the sensitivity of the sensor in the red and green range in particular by up to 30% compared to the previous version of the sensor.

Industrial image processing is used in a wide variety of applications - from quality assurance to automation.

Medical technology (and laboratory automation)

Image processing is indispensable in medical technology. For instance, IDS cameras provide data for diagnostic purposes in ophthalmology or dentistry.

Safety technology

Image processing is used, for example, for access control or the monitoring of rooms or outdoor facilities.

Quality assurance

IDS cameras are used in different production phases, e.g. by checking completeness or by detecting defects.

Biotechnology and life sciences

Image processing can be used, for example, to analyse living organisms and biological processes - from swarm behaviour to cell division.
