The model is in series and available for the long term. 🛈 Availability Long-term availability is an important aspect when selecting the right industrial camera. Our camera finder gives you the life cycle of each camera model so that you can take this criterion into account in your camera selection. The following life cycle statuses are differed: In development The model is not yet in series production, but will be introduced shortly. In series The model is in series and available for the long term. Not recommended for new designs The camera model is no longer recommended for new application development. We suggest looking for newer models of the "in series" availability. The availability of the model is fully ensured until its final discontinuation. Discontinued The model has been discontinued. You have the opportunity to secure inventory before the end of the last-time-buy order period. See product discontinuations. For further questions, please contact our sales team.

IDS NXT rio is an embedded vision platform in the form of a compact industrial camera that can execute neural networks with inference times of a few milliseconds thanks to the integrated, specially developed AI core ("deep ocean core").

AI-based image processing is particularly easy to realize using the IDS NXT lighthouse training software. Thanks to features such as C-mount, serial RS232 interface and a Gigabit Ethernet network connection with RJ45 connector, which enables the camera to communicate via REST web service and OPC UA, the model is ideally suited for use in industrial environments.

The 6.41 MPix rolling shutter sensor IMX178 from Sony's STARVIS series (3088 x 2076 px, pixel size 2.4 µm) with BSI technology ("back-side-illumination") is one of the most light-sensitive sensors in the IDS portfolio. It ensures impressive results even under very low light conditions.

The IDS NXT rio RS18064 is available in monochrome or colour.

The intelligent cameras of the IDS NXT rio family become powerful inference cameras by installing a neural network. This means that they can apply their "knowledge" acquired through deep learning to new data. Since IDS NXT cameras have a special AI core, neural networks are hardware-accelerated and run directly on the devices. This enables inference times of a few milliseconds.

The IDS NXT rio models are not only intelligent, however, but are also consistently suitable for industrial applications. With features such as C-mount, ruggedized housing, RS232 interface, Gigabit Ethernet network connection with RJ45 connector, REST web service and OPC UA server, customers receive intelligent industrial cameras that prove themselves even in demanding environmental conditions.

Wide range of applications!

Perfect for industrial environments

With a large variety of sensors, industry-typical interfaces and a robust housing, the cameras can be easily integrated into industrial applications.

More than meets the eye!

Image processing "on the edge"

These cameras can (pre-)process data via FPGA and provide it to machine controls, for example. The embedded solution reduces the load on the host PC (or even saves on it), energy consumption and system costs.

Thinks for itself!

Intelligent industrial cameras

Artificial intelligence can be used to solve tasks that are difficult or impossible to solve with conventional image processing. IDS NXT models make it possible to execute neural networks directly on the camera. This is particularly easy in combination with IDS NXT lighthouse - the training software for neural networks.

Agricultural applications

In the agricultural sector, cameras e.g. monitor plant growth, control the application of fertilisers or inspect the harvest.

Medical technology (and laboratory automation)

Image processing is indispensable in medical technology. For instance, IDS cameras provide data for diagnostic purposes in ophthalmology or dentistry.

Embedded systemes

Typical scenarios are the use in portable systems for quality control, in diagnostics, in scanners or drones.

Factory / process automation

Cameras are used in monitoring, control, regulation and optimization systems and help e.g. with localization and selection tasks.

Biotechnology and life sciences

Image processing can be used, for example, to analyse living organisms and biological processes - from swarm behaviour to cell division.

Food & beverage

To ensure the highest food quality - camera technology e.g. detects contaminants and helps with sorting tasks and fill level monitoring.

Trade

Imaging systems can be found e.g. in self-checkout systems and reverse vending machines and provide support for shelf inspection.

Logistics

Cameras are indispensable in the logistics sector - e.g. for (de-)palletizing tasks, sorting tasks or in autonomous vehicles.

Pharma and healthcare

By using cameras, it is possible to check e.g. whether packaging is correctly filled and printed or whether there are any impurities.
