For excellent image quality even in low light scenarios or when the camera should take pictures of fast-moving objects: the cost-effective global shutter CMOS sensor IMX273 from the Sony Pregius series excels through its image quality, high sensitivity and wide dynamic range. With a resolution of 1.58 MPix (1456 x 1088 px) at 3.45 µm pixels, it delivers impressive 251 fps when used with the USB3 Vision industrial camera U3-3040CP Rev.2.2. This makes this camera ideal for cost-sensitive and demanding machine vision applications such as surface inspections, detailed image analysis in medical technology or traffic applications.
Special functions such as long-time exposure up to 30.0 s or the linescan mode for using the industrial camera as a line scan camera also extend the range of possible applications.
The U3-3040CP Rev.2.2 is available in both monochrome and colour variants.
This camera model is supported by IDS Vision firmware 2.20 and higher.
Incredibly fast, incredibly reliable, incredible sensors: the uEye CP stands for "Compact Power" and is the tiny powerhouse for industrial applications of all kinds. It offers maximum functionality with extensive pixel pre-processing and, thanks to the internal 120 MB image memory, is also perfectly suited for multi-camera systems. The USB 3.0 cameras enable a high data rate of 420 MByte/s, low CPU utilization and easy integration.
Users can choose from a large number of modern CMOS sensors from manufacturers such as Sony and onsemi with different resolutions. Due to its innovative, patented housing design with dimensions of only 29 x 29 x 29 millimetres and best processing quality, the camera makes even designer hearts beat faster. In addition, screwable cables ensure a reliable electrical connection.
The cameras are suitable, for example, for tasks in fields such as automation, automotive, printing and packaging, medical technology and life sciences, agriculture, logistics as well as traffic and transport.
Note: Due to the high performance of modern sensors, some USB 3.0 uEye CP models are not supported in USB 2.0 mode. The USB 2.0 interface does not provide sufficient power for this. Further information can be found in the manual for IDS peak.
It's so easy!
Plug & Play principle
The cameras are automatically detected in the system and are immediately ready for use. Buy a camera, connect it, receive an image - it couldn't be easier!
Practical 8-pin I/O connector
Real-time image trigger capability, synchronous flash signals, a serial communication interface and two GPIOs which can be operated as both an input and an output, open up a huge range of applications.
Dimensions 29 x 29 x 29 mm
The small magnesium housing is as light (approx. 50 grams) as it is sturdy. This underlines the uncompromising industrial suitability of the cameras. They are ideal for space-critical applications and particularly suitable for use in multi-camera and 3D systems.

New USB 3 camera technology platform
Due to the worldwide semiconductor shortage with the resulting significant delivery delays, we have developed a new USB3 camera technology platform in the uEye+ product line (match code U3) with identical housings, connectors, sensors, lens holders and features. Electronic components are in stock, prototypes for design-ins for many models are available. Series production of the new USB 3 camera revisions is being established or has already started and will then be continuously expanded. The new USB 3 models are ingeniously supported by our Software Development Kit IDS peak. Our camera finder gives you the life cycle of each camera model so that you can take this criterion into account in your camera selection.
Due to the prolonged delivery times for our existing cameras with USB 3 interface, which can continue to be ordered, we are however only offering the newly developed and ready-to-order hardware revisions on our website. You can identify these by the revision number "Rev. x.2".
As an existing IDS customer, please contact our sales team for further information.
