IDS case study: Interactive installations at the German House of History in Bonn
Technology meets participation: IDS cameras bring history to life
The new permanent exhibition “You Are Part of History” at the German House of History invites visitors to write history themselves. Instead of merely watching, they can actively immerse themselves in historical narratives, alter digital content and leave their own personal mark.
This unique experience is made possible by SCHNELLE BUNTE BILDER, a studio for media art and digital interaction, through the combination of robust IDS cameras and the vvvv real-time platform. Movements are precisely captured, visualised in real time and translated into interactive installations such as the LED wall “You Are Part of History” or the station with the projection screen “When Were You Born?”. Every interaction becomes part of the medium – a fascinating interplay of technology, art and participation.
In our case study, you will learn how SCHNELLE BUNTE BILDER developed these interactive experiences, what advantages IDS cameras offer in this context, and why vvvv is the ideal platform for real-time interaction.
