HDR has long been part of the toolkit in many machine vision applications. Today, it is less the availability of the technology that matters than its efficient use. The comprehensive HDR support in IDS peak makes it much easier to evaluate HDR-capable cameras: users can visualise, compare, analyse and save HDR results directly, without first having to develop their own tools or applications.
On the camera side, various methods – including Clear HDR, Quad HDR and Sequence HDR – are available to meet different requirements in terms of dynamic range, resolution and motion. Capture, HDR merging and tone mapping are already integrated. In addition, source code samples make it easier to get started with the processing and further use of HDR image data. The result: a consistent workflow, from selecting the right camera through to evaluation and integration into the application.
