IDS peak release introduces user-friendly HDR feature for area scan cameras and additional 3D data formats for Nion

With IDS peak camera SDK, both new and existing customers benefit from comprehensive software support featuring High Dynamic Range for IDS 2D industrial cameras.

Besides the sensor-based Clear HDR and Quad HDR features for Sony sensors, we also support the firmware-based Sequence HDR technology. This means we cover almost the entire IDS camera range. Via the IDS peak API, you can access individual HDR exposures as well as pre-calculated HDR and LDR images. IDS peak handles capture, merging and tone mapping entirely. There is no need for custom HDR implementations. With the help of source code samples and a complete integration in the IDS peak Cockpit, you can evaluate and visualise results without any additional effort on your part.

The release also enhances data delivery by adding an additional proxy transport layer.  This software component complements the existing GenTL interface and optimises the functionality of IDS cameras. Computationally intensive conversions and formatting are offloaded to the host PC. This ensures the camera's performance remains unaffected. As a result, additional standards-compliant data formats are available.

For 3D applications with Nion, the IDS Proxy GenTL converts depth values into cartesian XYZ coordinates. These data formats are directly compatible with many machine vision systems and enable direct integration via GigE Vision into environments such as MVTec’s HALCON. At the same time, the camera’s high data throughput of 30 fps is maintained. The IDS Proxy GenTL thus increases efficiency and compatibility without compromising camera performance.
