Deep-Learning Vision Software for the Detection of Surface or Material Defects of Plastic Parts

In injection molding processes and the production of transparent plastic components, the system detects surface defects and material flaws in the form of inclusions, air bubbles or unfilled areas. Thanks to an optimized system setup comprising lighting, camera and image processing algorithm, these quality defects can be made visible and detected with the aid of deep-learning technology. The concept can be used for plastics production by means of injection molding, electroplating and other processes with high demands on quality control. Different surfaces or transparent components can be inspected. The application can be combined and extended with other inspection tasks.
